WHEN it comes to skincare, I adore a really good quality oil for both my body and face. During my pregnancy I used bottles and bottles of oils all over my body to keep hydrated – a baby sucks the moisture out of your body like a sponge while they are growing – and it kept me from completely drying out over the time that I was pregnant for. Now that I’m a new mum, I’m still turning to oils to keep my skin hydrated, and these are three of the products that are currently on high rotation. Let’s start off with the facial oils. The Rituals and Elemis offerings both smell absolutely wonderful and are a joy to use. They nourish and sink into my skin without leaving a thick residue which some cheaper oils can be guilty of. I often tend to over apply oil as I love it so much but then I regret it straight away so I would recommend a cautious touch when applying any oil – a few drops will do to create the perfect application. The Elemis Superfood Facial Oil is £45 for 15 mls and has a blend of highly concentrated plant-based superfoods including anti-oxidant and omega-rich Broccoli, Flax Seed and Daikon Radish. The Rituals Anti-aging Namaste Glow Oil is £32.50 for 30mls and contains St. John’s wort oil and is enriched with Saffron Flower and Holy Lotus. These oils feel luxurious and really hydrate the skin. I would use them at night, or on a day when I’m not going to wear make-up, just as I like to work from a more neutral/matte base but as a night oil, or day oil for a stay-at-home day then they are my go-to products. Kinn Living’s body oil is £22 for 100ml and is 99.5% organic and 100% natural. It has a blend of avocado oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil and sweet almond oil with top line scents of ylang ylang, lavender and tangerine…. yum! Perfect for after the shower, Kinn Living recommend to use this oil on slightly damp skin and let the oils do the work. I still cheat on oils sometimes with moisturisers, eye creams and serums… but I always find myself coming back to my favourite oils when I really want a boost of elasticity for my skin. Now, let’s hope they can do wonders for my tired-looking face and stretch-marked skin!
