An Undercurrent of Cool

I LOVE second-hand shops. I always feel that hiding around the next corner, there could be that one item that you fall in love with; the one piece that everyone asks where you bought it – and you say with smug satisfaction, “Oh, it’s vintage.”

My new favourite shop is Undercurrents, in Cowper Street, East London where I snapped up an amazing Danish solid silver ring for £60.

The shop has a collection of ceramics, furniture and accessories from the 30s through to the 90s including an impressive selection of Scandanavian sourced stuff.

There is a great range of good quality, unusual jewellery (head to the cabinet at the back) and fantastic pieces of glassware in delicious colours to brighten up any room.

It’s a treasure trove of great pieces, but beware: It’s a tiny shop, but very easy to lose an hour or two in here.

Undercurrents is open every day except Sunday from 12.00 – 18.30 (17.00 on Saturdays).

28 Cowper Street, London, EC2A 4AS.
