RIHANNA launched her first collection for River Island last night, presenting a catwalk at their flagship store in Oxford Street, London and then partying with Will Smith, Katy B, Little Mix, Fazer and the cast of Made In Chelsea at an after party held at DSTRKT nightclub.
The pop star turned fashion designer showed a range of jersey pieces with lots of thigh high splits and denim separates as part of her debut collection.
Rihanna said: ”This is a dream, and to see it on the racks, this is the freakiest part, from where we started, from jotting these down on napkins and pieces of paper in a hotel room, in the middle of the night.”
Talking about the design process, Rih said that she created it with a very special lady in mind – herself! Narcissist! Just kidding, she modelled it on her friends too.
She explained: “I was being a little bit selfish. I designed everything that I would want to wear, and for the women that I’m with. Because I’m with a large group of women who have different sizes, different tastes, different body types, and I wanted to design something that everybody could wear because I wanted all my friends to have something too. But I’d still wear everything.”
And rather than creating a flash-in-the-pan collection, she insisted that she’ll still be wearing these pieces in a decade from now.
She said: “Everything is simple, everything is classic. I wanted to make things that you can wear ten years from now and not know what era. Not have an era attached to it or a brand or whatever. ”
Rihanna, known for her hits Rude Boy, Diamonds, S&M etc etc (she’s had more hits than hairstyles, and that’s A LOT), was joined by the FRESH PRINCE HIMSELF Will Smith at the after party as well as Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock from Little Mix, Katy B, Fazer and some of the cast from Made In Chelsea.
Rosie Fortescue, Cheska Hull, Oliver Proudlock, Andy Jordan and Spencer Matthews from the popular E4 show all partied at the bash held at DSTRKT nightclub in London.
Former TOWIE star Lydia Bright and her boyf Tom Kilbey also attended the shindig.
