DRESSING for work can often kill your personal style… but with the range of patterns, knits and cute quirky pieces at Monsoon and Accessorize, your wardrobe will be bursting with fresh ideas.
Now, here at Pillow Magazine we have a rock n’ roll dress code for work… but we know that many of our readers go to offices with stricter rules.
And we know how important it is to infuse your own personal style into what is considered ‘workplace’ appropriate.
We love this quirky idea from our friends at Accessorize.
Using a scarf to nip in a simple trench adds tonnes of personality to a classic coat.
And it’s perfect for winter!
Over at Monsoon the gang from head office have put together a video full of handy tips and tricks in how to use their range to bring your wardrobe to life.
Jo, right, who works in E-Commerce and Trade Planning, says that a patterned piece can add that extra something to an otherwise plain outfit.
She says: “Before I started working at Monsoon, I was very scared of wearing pattern, I would probably be in black head to toe. But seeing all of the guys wearing all of the patterns every day has really inspired me and given me the confidence to experiment with my wardrobe.”
“This season I would go for a fantastic knitwear piece, there’s some great textured pieces and adding one of those to the wardrobe would just give it an extra bit of lift.
“And don’t be scared of patterns, it just adds a bit of personality.”
Pillow Magazine editor Angharad says: “A bright pattern can add flavour to any outfit. Matching a loose printed top from Monsoon tucked into a leather pencil skirt and boots will bring the right mix of edgy cool to an office look.”
Helen from the Monsoon team thinks that the days of wearing a plain suit are over.
She says:”Workwear has really evolved over the last few season. I don’t think it’s about wearing a suit anymore. I tend to wear a pretty woven blouse, with some chunky jewellery and heels.”
Angharad adds: “Monsoon have a fab range of printed dresses too. We love their gorgeous Billie Bird Print Dress which is only £70. Bargain!”
Meanwhile Lindsay, below, who works in E-Commerce, says she loves the jackets from the new collection at Monsoon but adds: “I am sitting at my desk most of the time, so comfort is key for me.”
Angharad adds: “A quirky jacket over a plain dress speaks volumes. We love the range of Trophy Jackets from Monsoon. Their boxy silhouette would also look great with cigarette pants and a pair of amazing patent heels.”
