THE moment you here of a famous figure’s pregnancy you immediately wonder if the child will ever be as talented as their parents. No pressure for the poor youngster. However, when your born into such a ripe rock heritage like Joyce the musical talent flows through your veins.
Introducing Katherine Fussey, aka Joyce, the 21 year old chanteuse from London creating delightful electronic waves in the pop world. The starlet is niece of Bowie guitarist Mick Ronson and Bowie’s hairdresser (the founder of Ziggy Stardusts haircut) and her father was the sound engineer for the likes of Bowie and Roxy Music. But even though these influences stem from the 70′s, Joyce’s sound resonates the mystique and allure of the mid-sixties.
With The Voice, X Factor, American Idol and Britain’s Got Talent always on the hunt for the next big thing there is still hope in finding that internet sensation. Joyce was discovered online at random by Island Records and quickly put pen to paper before playing any lives shows and releasing any material.
Her sumptuous vocals, fresh synth-pop and inspirational style is vivid in her re-work of Wave Machines’ Keep The Lights On. You’ll be all to familiar with this girl in the coming months so watch the video below and scroll for the tracklisting of the single (released 30th April).
