IT’S rare that I leave East London, but one of the temptations that can lure me out of Shoreditch is a shiny new second-hand store.
So I better top up my Oyster card as Peekaboo Vintage is opening their first standalone boutique in June at 3 Ganton Street, London, W1.
Founded in 1991 by Emily Bothwell and Michael Courier, the store promises Ossie Clark-inspired pieces and Chanel-style quilted bags, as well as shoes in the style of Terry de Havilland.
Now, I have to admit I have previously bought a gorgeous claret-red leather handbag from their current concession in Topshop for £60. A little overpriced I felt, but it was amazing and I had to have it. But, the chain strap broke with a day and the zip frayed and broke within a week. Gutted.
But, as is the case with vintage, you win some you lose some and now with their new boutique opening, it’s the perfect time for me to try the brand again.
Visit their online store to check out their range.
