RUBY GOE has been on my radar since my flatmate saw her perform at a London fashion party and totally fell in love with her (cue much dancing round the kitchen with her tunes on the stereo).
Beat Breaking Boy is a cheeky slice of electro hip-hop that swaggers along nicely. Encore is quite different, delivering a shimmering, modern pop song with soaring vocals.
The performer from Surrey (“It was so boring”, she says, “there was absolutely nothing to do, I had to find a way to get out of there,”) studied at The Brighton School of Music before moving to London.
She even provided backing vocals for the Angie Stone’s classic tune I Wish I Didn’t Miss You Anymore. Impressive. Ruby has also collaborated with breakbeat duo The Stanton Warriors on four tracks for their current album The Warriors and supported The Black Eyed Peas (OK, OK, but we’ll forgive her for that).
You can catch the feisty gal performing live on June 22nd at Bowery, London supporting Yes Sir Boss. Buy tickets here and check out her website here.
